Description
An interesting pair of 18thc Dutch hand coloured engravings c1750 or even earlier in date. One depicts a busy boat and river scene beside the small town of Tershoek (which from my limited research was a forerunner of the medieval city of Ghent), in Belgium. The other depicts a ploughing scene in front of the rural village of BergAmbacht, in Holland. At the time these places were known as the Low Countries. Both are engraved lightly with the main body filled with vibrant watercolour. Inscriptions beneath the panels suggest the artist or maker’s name was Brouvier. Longer inscriptions are printed, in Dutch or Flemish, below the panels. The framers name AW Toole of Gravenhage, near The Hague is affixed to the backs. Condition is good for the age. We are happy to discuss your enquiries by phone, What’s App or email. We can arrange delivery of larger items for you by professional and reliable couriers - please contact us for a delivery cost.
