Description

A lovely oak stationery box dating from the late 19th Century. The top lifts up to reveal leather pen holders mounted below the lid. The front then folds down to reveal the inner letter racks and the front folds out again to provide a sloped leather writing surface. It is a good quality piece and comes with its original working key.
There is a silver plaque on the top inscribed to Dr Edwards from the Bridge End Congregational Guild dated Feb 1890.
It is in good condition throughout and the oak has developed a lovely warm patina. There are a few small knocks and marks around the outside but no major damages. There is some wear along the crease of the writing surface and some scuffs and small losses to the letter racks but nothing detrimental or untoward and overall it displays very well.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
