Description

A Thereisenthal  floral enamelled cordial glass . Made in Bavaria c 1900 and enamelled with the centre of the glass to resemble a flower. Green stem and base with faint gold coloured enamel around the edge of the foot. Excellent original condition and a delightful example of this work. Price includes UK shipping
History
The Thereisenthal glassworks has been based in Zwiesel in Germany since 1863 but other glassworks have been on the site since 1421. Franz Steigerwald founded a crystal glass factory here that quickly became known for its high-quality products and even supplied royal houses. Over the years, ownership changed, there were bankruptcies and fires, but glass production was always resumed. Today, the Kristallglasmanufaktur Theresienthal continues to produce exquisite glass, inspired by historical styles and modern designs.
