Art Deco Sewing Set by Nogent. Nogent is a region in France and also the name of the renowned company famous for complex, high-end luxury pieces, especially those items requiring knife making skills. In 1923, the founder, Mr Louis André earned the prestigious title of ‘Best Craftsman of France’ for his skills as an artist, designer and entrepreneur. The brand also holds the highly coveted EPV label - Enterprise du Patrimonies Vivant, a mark of recognition from the French government for outstanding traditional & industrial craftsmanship. This sewing kit retailed by Harrods is exceptionally elegant in the Art Deco style. The kit is housed in its original silk- and velvet-lined presentation case bearing the iconic vintage Harrods London mark. The striking geometric, angular, and faceted handles are characteristic of the Art Deco period. The complete set comprises of the seven original pieces. Dressmaking Shears: Heavy-duty fabric scissors with matching geometric grips - still sharp today! Small Embroidery Scissors: Designed for precise thread-snips, featuring matching faceted finger loops - still sharp today! Cylindrical Needle Case: A protective storage sleeve for housing loose hand-sewing needles. Metal Thimble Stitching Awl / Punch: A sharp, tapered needle tool used to pierce guide holes in heavy fabrics or leather.
