Description
A very pretty and substantial sterling silver spice sifter spoon in the King's Hourglass pattern with cast double threaded edge and shell motifs to the handle and heel. Hallmarked for London 1820, makers William Eley I & William Fearn. There is a small bright cut engraved crest of a bird. These small sifter spoons were used to sprinkle spices over desserts and drinks and are perfect for similar use today to zhuzh up your cappuccinos, cocktails and puddings. It measures 13.4cm (5 1/4") long and 3.2cm (1 1/4") wide and weighs a very respectable 34g / 1.1ozt. In very good condition with no damage or repair. There is some minor handling wear to the top of the handle from 200 years of use, mainly to the front over the hourglass device, family crest and bottom edge of the shell, and slightly to the hourglass on the reverse. Further down handling wear is minimal and the marks are lovely and clear. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
