Description

A Victorian turned boxwood double ended string barrel with footed base and carrying handle c.1880. The boxwood barrel superbly made with ring turned finish to each end; the ends with small bone trimmed hole for dispensing the string. Turned feet to the underside and swing loop handle to the top. One end of the barrel removes to access the interior for inserting two balls of string - one for each dispensing end. Beautifully made and presented in excellent original condition with a rich patina. Height quoted is handle down. Keep up to date via our Instagram channel - sturmansantiques.
